Product Description

The Lowe family’s ‘Tinja’ property has been in their family for five generations and is the home of the Lowe winery. It is here that the Tinja wines are made from grapes grown in premium wine regions of NSW.

The 2012 Tinja Preservative Free and Organic Merlot is made from Merlot grapes and made without any preservatives.

It was developed for those with allergic reactions to such additives.

100% Merlot from our Organic vineyard at Tinja, and like the previous 3 vintages is plums, bright and vibrant.  We have retained some natural occurring CO2 which helps keep the wine fresh, and its success has staggered us. A very new style of wine that provides alternatives to the complex ageing wines that we have all consumed to date. Read also the Preservative free cheats guide for the health reasons for making this wine.

We have made this style for four years now and know that it cellars well for a number of years. Serve chilled.

Reviews

Chris Shanahan, Canberra Times, June 2012
“This is David Lowe’s fifth Tinja preservative-free merlot – targeted, he says at young people and people allergic to sulphur dioxide, the preservative used in almost every wine on the market. It’s a not easy capturing and preserving vibrant fruit flavours without sulphur. But Lowe’s latest vintage does just that: the colour’s limpid and vibrant and the aroma and flavour are all about pure, fresh fruitiness. Lively acidity and firm tannins help preserve the fruit. It’s like Beaujolais with balls, and ready to enjoy now.”

National Liquor News, Nov 2012
“Made without any preservative, this wine shows bright and vibrant plum fruit”
